Welcome to LCVH Preschool!  As a ministry of The Lutheran Church of Vestavia Hills, we are a small, play based program for children ages 8 weeks to 4 years old.  Our goal is to offer a warm and welcoming environment where children enjoy each day of their early school experience. Our highly qualified, caring staff and the current families enrolled in our program will soon feel like an extension of your own family.  From 9:00-1:00, Monday-Friday, each class offers a variety of fun, age-appropriate activities for children to engage with peers, build confidence, and become lifelong learners. We strive to supply each child with a place that sparks excitement about learning and fosters the making of happy preschool memories.  When a child graduates from our program, they have truly been loved by the LCVH Preschool community. We always miss them when they go, but we know they leave well prepared for kindergarten…and many other adventures that lie ahead. 

A $200 Registration fee is required for all children enrolling in LCVH Preschool and MDO.  The annual registration fee secures the child’s spot in the class and is non-refundable.

Infants age 8 weeks to 15 months

This class can accommodate up to four babies a day.  We offer 2, 3, or 5 days a week with flexibility on days.  Each baby will enjoy one on one attention from the teacher, socialization, play, music, and participate in a weekly craft.  Babies are read to daily and go outside when the weather permits. We aim to follow a feeding and sleep schedule provided by the parent.

Tiny Tots

This class is offered on MWF for toddlers able to walk and self-feed who no longer require a morning nap.  (Typically, 16-24 months of age). Tuesdays and Thursdays may be available for an additional fee. With a teacher close by, children learn to feel secure in a loving environment away from home.  Our toddlers enjoy age appropriate activities that encourage them to build language skills, explore their surroundings and develop interests using classroom materials and toys. There is a maximum of 10 children with two teachers.

2 year old class

This class meets on MWF and is available for children who turn two on or before September 1st of the school year.  Tuesdays and Thursdays may be available for an added fee. We have two teachers in this class and a maximum of 12 children.    We focus on kindness and social skills (learning to be away from mom and dad, sharing, speaking up about our needs, and interacting with others). The daily schedule includes a circle time highlighting a weekly theme, snack, art, story time, outdoor play, lunch, and lots of time for free play and exploring!

3 year old class

Our 3’s are growing in independence!  The 3’s class is center based and is comprised of free play, circle time, snack, story time, active play, lunch, music and art.  We offer a two day (T, TH), a three day (M, W, F) and a five day a week option for our 3 year olds.  Children will continue to build their vocabulary, make friends, enhance social skills and strengthen fine motor skills.  Children must be 3 years of age on or before September 1st of the school year and must also be fully potty trained for our 3K class!

4 year old class 

Our four year old class focuses on promoting a love of learning and exploration! Children will enjoy play and age appropriate thematic units with an emphasis on math skills, letter recognition, sound and formation.  The classroom is center based and each day is full of art, exciting learning activities, music and quality children’s literature. We continue to offer a play based program that prepares students for kindergarten in a developmentally appropriate way.  We offer a three day and a five day a week class for our 4 year olds.
